Lovech
Located in northern Bulgaria Lovech is a beautiful area with mountains and plains. The town of Lovech is one of the oldest towns in Bulgaria and in ancient times people lived in the nearby caves.
A self taught master builder called Nikola Fichev but known as Kolyu Ficheto built the famous covered bridge pictured above between 1872-1874. It is easily the most reconnisable feature of the town of Lovech and it connects the old town with the new town of Lovech. Kolyu Ficheto could speak 4 languages (Romanian, Greek, Turkish and Bulgaria) but could not read and write.
