Grad Sofiya
Grad Sofiya is the home of the capital of Bulgaria Sofia and the capital it a mixture of old its Byzantine churches and castle gates and new buildings rebuilt after the bombings in World War II. Sofia is beginning to emerge from a long legacy of heavy-handed Communist rule and visitors can expect an invigorating yet frustrating experience as the tourism industry industry slowly warms to Sofia and Bulgaria.
Places for tourists to visit include the Rila Monastery, which is the biggest monastery in Bulgaria and it is hidden away in the Rila mountains. Sofia is home to the national history museum and various other museums and galleries, and the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
Other attractions include Sofia zoo which was founded in 1888 and Sofia Land Amusement Park.
